The problem

What was going wrong.

The first version hit every cliché of AI-generated sites: near-black background, cyan-to-violet gradient headline, glass cards, floating pill nav, scroll-reveal on everything. It looked like a template, and people have learned to distrust that look.

What I built

The fix.

Threw out the visual layer and rebuilt it as a small design system: warm paper, ink, one ember accent, Fraunces for display and IBM Plex for text, hairline rules instead of cards, numbered ledger lists instead of icon grids. Pages are server-rendered with no scroll animation library. The same system runs the blog, the audit intake, the chat assistant, and the admin.

My own site, rebuilt as a typography-led, paper-and-ink design with a blog, an AI assistant, an automation-audit intake, and an admin for posts. The previous version was a dark, gradient-heavy template look; this one is built to read like a well-run shop.
